Check to see if our house is licensed
- When you rent a house in Hawaii for less than one month, the house must be licensed as a
vacation unit. Many advertised vacation rentals are being shut down because they are not
licensed. Before you make a deposit, check on the official county website to confirm you are
dealing with a bona fide vacation rental property. The zoning restriction must say -
"Nonconforming Use TVU". To search, put in the address, then click on "Zoning Info" on this
page: Parcel zoning viewer

Restaurants
- In Kailua, don't miss breakfast at Boots & Kimo's Homestyle Kitchen or fresh malasados
from Agnes Portuguese Bake Shop.
- Our four favorite restaurants that offer great food at a reasonable price are:
- Lunch at Kaka'ako Kitchen at the Ward Center: Click on this for map and hours
- Plate Lunch from Diamond Head Market & Grill (take it to Kapiolani Park or the beach),
also get a couple of scones for breakfast while you're there!: click on this for their
Honolulu Advertiser review
- Tiki's Grill for an early dinner or sunset drink after surfing: get the Tiki glass to take home:
Click here to check out the scene
- When going to the North Shore, the shrimp trucks are OK, but there is nothing like the
Authentic Thai food at Haleiwa Eats. We love the shrimp curry and coconut rice. You'll
find it next door to Matsumoto's shaved ice at 66-079 Kamehameha Hwy in Haleiwa
Hawaiiana Shopping
- For Hawaiians at heart living on the mainland and worldwide check out Aloha World
- The world's largest distributor of Hawaiian books, music and DVDs is Book Lines Hawaii
- If you are looking for something else Hawaii related, you'll find it at The Hawaii Directory.
